I bought this a while ago and have reserved judgement until I used it a few times.
When it is initially switched on it takes approx. 3 minutes to locate my position, the maps are really good, (the 2D view is a bit rubbish, 3D is far better), you have the ability to zoom in/out and roate the view 360 degrees, I have only lost signal a couple of times in areas of dense wood or when going through a valley but the signal re-locates you very quickly.
When you add up the cost of the individual parts provided (car cradle, map disc etc..) the price of the GPS works out to be approx. £60.00 which is a bit pricey.
You can download the European maps in addition to the GB and Ireland ones provided direct from the GO! website at a cost of approx. £20.00 when I last checked, but you'll need a big memory card (2gb minimum).
Overall It is excellent considering it's only an add on for a multimedia player.
Enjoy.

Customer rating: 4 out of 5 stars Why buy yet another gadget when your PSP can do it for you

Used the PSP GPS to get me to (and around) the South of France this summer. Indispensible. Got me around Paris and through tiny country lanes to get me perfectly to my destination. When I bought it I thought the voice would be too quiet but found it perfectly OK.

There were 2 drawbacks though - the screen reflects the sun horrendously so took some time to get the optimum position right so I could still see the screen - and then it was still hard going when the sun was shining brightly (admittedly not such a problem in the UK!). Having a PSP-3000 will probably fix that.

Other problem was the software crashed 3 times over a 2 week holiday, rebooting the PSP. Thankfully it didn't happen at moments when I really needed it.

Overall though it worked very well and is a tool I will use a lot more particularly on foreign holidays.

I have had the pleasure of using this great piece of kit and i was very impressed. Here are my findings:

Good points:

small, compact GPS reciever, screws into the top of your PSP, (fat or slim psp)

Maps on UMD.

All the features you'd find on other GPS systems e.g waypoints, find destinations, create journeys etc. absolutely excellent.

Bad Points:

takes about 10-20 secs to lock onto satellite and now and again will drop signal if you're in a wooded area, however it does find the signal again within 10 secs i found, so its not too much trouble

pricing. you can get the GPS alone for £30 in places, so the rest of your money is going towards the software. Whilst i do believe it's worth every penny, it's still pricey.

overall - great GPS system, you will not be disappointed.

No, sorry it's a great toy but - OK it is good and it does work eventually, but there are cheaper and better ones available. You must think the total cost, the PSP + GPS now that is getting expensive, and then what if it is stolen, that's the PSP and your satnav gone leaving you with a pile of mini coasters that only another PSP can use. So if you have 99 quid floating around and fancy a GPS then go for it else get something proper!!

Another triumph for Sony... I bought this a few days after UK release day and used it to travel the country from top to bottom. It has helped me shave time off travelling by guiding me through alien moterway junctions and has managed to get me to my destination using small 'local' routes that I thought only I knew about.

The graphics are excellent and instructions clear. The 3d function looks pretty cool and the ability to rotate the image is sweet.

I've also been turning a few heads, because not many people have got hold of one of these yet - The guys in a garage were all over it and I spent more time demonstrating the GPS than getting my car fixed, but it saved me some money because they gave me a discount!

BEWARE though! You are going to need a BIG memory stick if you want to add on Map Packs - The Western Europe set takes up around 2GB with the original UK content. There is a rumour that Sony are going to release external drives for PSPs, which is becoming a must because I for one have loads of video content that I'd love to have sitting at hand in my PSP when I travel.

The only problem I've had so far is that I can't get the western European Map Pack to work and I'm touring the continent in a few days, but that's the only downside and I'm sure Sony will sort it - they usually respond very quickly to compatibility issues... fingers crossed!

Although i do not believe this to be the best sat nav on the market the fact that this can be added to you psp device is amazing. The interface is really smart and fun. This little gadget for under £100 is a must have if your looking for a sat nav and already have a psp. The points of interest are a real bonus and are better than others i have used. The 3D part is amazing brings a new part to navigating.

This little sat nav just complements the psp perfectly and is a bargin is you are looking for a good quality sat nav.

ive had me go explore for a couple of weeks now and the satnav works perfectly maps are clear sound is audible but i have found that the more maps you have the slower it takes to calculate a route even if its 20 miles away. all in all i am very pleased with this product

Ive been waiting for this item for months, very excited by variuos reviews i have read. Purchased the kit including bracket and software. These were the best things in the Kit. The GPS would not work initialy and when it did start working it would not triangulate any satellites. After a few hours i gave up and bought a Garmin Widescreen satnav. This worked perfectly and had the added bonus of touchscreen, brighter screen and louder speaker. All for the same price and the Sony GPS.
My advise, dont buy an add on that pretends to be something its not.

Top 100 Games Reviewer

The PSP is proving to be a true media station, not just games and movies, now heading into true online features and now SatNav.
Ive had several so far, from the Navman systems and the earlier TomToms to the new TomTom1 r3 and they all head over £100 in the price market.

Now to say i was shocked when this landed on my lap, would be and understatement. I wasnt sure what to expect realy, but was encouraged by the fact that the PSP has much more processing power than standard GPS systems.

Ive had 2 weeks play time with this and so far, im confident its one of the best SatNavs ive used. Its extremely simple to input destinations, it uses a break down input menu, starting with the city, then the area of suburb, then street and number or you can start with the postcode if you already know it.

Also the points of interest is brilliant, it can bring up POI for the area your going to, or the area your at or even the area at which your cursor is upon, then it will bring up a large list of types of POI, once you have found what you need, a hotel for example, it will bring up the full address details and telephone numbers!

The actual map and graphic presentation is fantastic too, starting from the typical map street view right to full 3D rendered views which even do complete rendering of landmarks and all in smooth fluid 3D. This is where it outshines most GPS as it can handle alot on the screen.
It will even give you lane information on multi lane roads, allowing you to move through traffic easier, aswell as speed camera info and such.

All in all for the price, it is simply outstanding, but make sure you have a 1GB mem card at least. It will give you the option of uploading the maps to a card for faster reference and route processing, these take up over 500MB of space but make the program run extremely quick.

A must by for the SatNav lover or gadget lover!
