Review

From director Neil Marshall (The Descent, Dog Soldiers) and starring Rhona Mitra (Shooter), Bob Hoskins (Outlaw, Nixon) and Malcom McDowell (Heroes, A Clockwork Orange) Doomsday is an action-packed, science-fiction thriller!

In Doomsday, a lethal virus spreads throughout a major country and kills hundreds of thousands. To contain the newly identified Reaper, the authorities brutally quarantine the country as it succumbs to fear and chaos. The literal walling-off works for three decades - until Reaper violently resurfaces in a major city. An elite group of specialists, including Eden Sinclair (Mitra), is urgently dispatched into the still-quarantined country to retrieve a cure by any means necessary. Shut off from the rest of the world, the unit must battle through a landscape that has become a waking nightmare.

An easy to watch action disease movie. Nothing oscar winning about it but a good story line, some good action and an easy sub plot. Clearly sets itself up for a sequel. Worth a watch.

A very good plot in the sense that this film could have been in the same success as 28 Days Later, the director just seems to actually lose direction. The post-apocalyptic Glasgow scenes were brilliant and adrenaline rfuelled and at times terrifying but it just all seemed a bit rushed. Marshall could have stretched the story to 2 films very easily and perhaps a more logical ending could have been put together.

The acting is sub standard but with all these types of films that comes with the packaging, the scenery and cinematography are on the same level of brilliance as 28 Days Later; which for me is a better film but Doomsday has better entertainment.

A good mindless watch.

This film takes a a bit from Mad Max, Escape from New York and blends them in to a strange mix. Its set in the future Theres a Punk world a medevil world its just missing West world.
The medevil worlds annoying just on the fact that its set 20 years from now and every1's dressed in ye old clothes n riding horses. Its a bit of a mess but has some good bits in it and the Mad Max style bits are pretty good.
Worth a rent but wouldn't buy.
